'79 40th Reunion Football Tickets:   A block of tickets has been set aside for '79 for the Navy-ECU football game on Saturday, September 14th. Game kick-off TBD. You must have a game ticket to enter the N* Room where the '79 Tailgater will be located. Tickets will be located in Section 1 and 101. Reserved seats are $45. Standing room will be $30 for adults and $20 for youth ages 12 and under. Age 2 and under do not require a ticket. You are encouraged to purchase by mid-June as NAAA will not guarantee exclusivity to the class after that point.

Security  at the Naval Academy is at an elevated level and everyone without a retired military ID must go though the Pass & ID Office at Gate 1.  Please allow extra time to get to the scheduled reunion events on the Yard. All visitors 18 years of age or older must have a valid picture ID (i.e.: State issued driver's license, student I.D., or a government issued passport). Visitors under the age of 18, who do not have a valid picture ID must be escorted by an adult with a valid form of identification. Due to security restrictions, only DOD ID holders are permitted to drive onto the grounds of the United States Naval Academy.

Classmates from Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Washington State and Samoa read this! Driver's licenses from these states are not in accordance with the RealID Law and cannot be used to gain entry to any DoD facility, including the Naval Academy. You must bring a second government issued ID such as a Passport or Government CAC card to gain entry to the Yard.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

As reported by the election committee during the class meeting on 13 September, the following members of the Class of 1979 were elected to serve a 10 year term beginning 1 January, 2020:

Golf Outing: 

The golfing gods have conspired against this year for our 40th reunion golf outing.  The USNA Course is undergoing major renovations that are reported to greatly improve the track, but that means at this moment and on our reunion weekend, only 9 holes are available AND some of the grass on those 9 holes has already started to be killed off in preparation for the off season work that will go on to bring this course around to a showplace in the spring.

Not to be deterred, there are other golf courses in the area, but Eisenhower, a nice public track between Annapolis and Crownsville is also closed for renovations AND Renditions in Davidsonville which is a fun replica of famous golf holes course has a 144 person event on our day and is totally unavailable on our scheduled day.

So, here is the proposal for all you golfers… we will not hold a true outing this reunion due to the combination of bad timing that has made it very difficult to pull off.  HOWEVER, anyone that would still like to play on that Thursday will have the opportunity at the USNA course.  Fee will be $45 to include cart and you are welcome to play the 9 holes twice to get in 18.  Those interested in doing so should send me an e-mail with your name and commitment to play or the names of who will be in your group and we’ll put together a schedule and alert the folks at the USNA Golf Course.  PLEASE send me a note in response to this announcement EVEN IF you already expressed interest.  I want to confirm participation under these less than ideal conditions and not make any assumptions.  If we send out a foursome, great; if we have a dozen, great, and if the consensus is to regroup for a spectacular event at the 45th, great… just an opportunity for some advance camaraderie before our big weekend if some are interested. 

I will accept your commitment to play if you so desire through Wednesday, September 4th and then publish the list and make the final arrangements on Thursday, September 5th. 

Can’t wait to see everyone for a great weekend.  GO NAVY… Beat Holy Cross, Beat ECU, and of course. BEAT ARMY!!

Game Day Parking and Transportation Options

Germantown Elementary: (200 Windell Road) An off-site parking option a few blocks away from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Game day parking is not available in advance. Payment is accepted in cash only at this lot. Game day parking is $30 for a single-space vehicle and $100 for an oversized vehicle.

Game Day Shuttle Service: Free satellite parking is available at the Harry S. Truman Park and Ride, located on Harry S. Truman Parkway off of Riva Road. The shuttle service provided by Annapolis Bus Company begins five (5) hours prior to the start of the game and continues throughout the game, ending approximately two (2) hours after the game. The shuttle runs approximately every 20 minutes, and drops off and picks up at the Navy Ticket Office at the Class of 1953 Pavilion. Designated handicap accessible shuttles are available.
